The inscriptions read, “For H.L. Douglas with compliments of Vilhjalmur Stefansson, 10/15/26” and “To Guy Tombs, From “Babe” Ruth”. Guy Tombs (center photo) was a prominent businessman from Montreal (where the photo was most likely taken). Perhaps more interesting is Vilhjalmur Stefansson (left photo), who was a very well known Canadian Arctic explorer and ethnologist.

The Babe left Chicago in the evening for Hollywood, Calif., from where he will go to Hawaii for a barnstorming exhibition.”
