Children’s Hospital - Boston, MA - April 24, 1929
It was 84 Years Ago today that The Babe and Will Rogers came by to cheer up the kids at the Boston Children’s Hospital. Babe was in town that day to play the Red Sox at Fenway Park. He went 1-4 with an RBI in a Yankees victory, 9-3 (I guess he didn’t promise any home runs that day!).

Victory For The Yankees On Opening Day
Yankee Stadium - April 18, 1929

Looks like everybody’s watching the play over at 2nd base as The Babe is about to score. That’s Tony Lazzeri (#6) looking on. For the rest of the players that day, here’s the boxscore from the game:Yankees 7 vs. Red Sox 3

Babe Ruth Meets Cartoonist Walter Berndt
Yankee Stadium, NY - c.1929

Walter Berndt was the creator/cartoonist for the beloved comic strip “SMITTY” which ran from 1922-1973 (ironically almost the exact same time span of the original Yankee Stadium). I believe the picture dates from c.1929 because that was the year that Berndt published the book “Smitty At The Ball Game”, featuring babe Ruth on the cover.

1929-30 Philadelphia A’s Team Composite
Here’s a huge new composite of the 1929-30 A’s. Oddly the poster calls them the “American League Champions” (which is true). You’d think they’d rather mention that they were the “World Champions” because of their winning the 1929 & 1930 World Series.
