1953 Louisville Colonels Team
Plenty of future MLB talent on this squad, none more notable than “The Golden Greek”, Harry Agganis (back row, 5th from left). 1953 marked Harry’s only season in the minors after being Boston University’s first ever Football All-American (and 1st round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns). He then moved up to the Boston Red Sox in 1954-55 before his life was tragically cut short by a pulmonary embolism on June 27, 1955. He was only 26 years old.
