Babe Ruth Meets Cartoonist Walter Berndt
Yankee Stadium, NY - c.1929

Walter Berndt was the creator/cartoonist for the beloved comic strip “SMITTY” which ran from 1922-1973 (ironically almost the exact same time span of the original Yankee Stadium). I believe the picture dates from c.1929 because that was the year that Berndt published the book “Smitty At The Ball Game”, featuring babe Ruth on the cover.

Babe Carved In Wood - Chicago 1930
Artist/sculptor Carl Hallsthammar puts the finishing touches on a wood-carved likeness of the Bambino. When he was done, Babe signed it. I’d love to know where this statue is now.
