1888 Philadelphia Athletics Team
From the old days of the American Association, this team played from 1882-1890 and shouldn’t be confused with the American League Athletics team that Connie Mack helped to form in 1901. Also note a very young future HOF’er, 24 year old Wilbert ‘Uncle Robbie’ Robinson (to the left of “Athletic 1888”).

I thought it would be fun to show how an original press photo was edited back in the day for use in the papers. Who is that mysterious suited fellow in the background? He’s probably the reporter and that case next to him most likely held the camera that’s taking the photo we see here today.
1955 Toronto Maple Leafs Team
Not only was there a Maple Leafs NHL hockey team that we all know of, but there was a Toronto Maple Leafs baseball team as well. They played in the AAA International League until 1967. Gotta love the handlebar moustache on that mascot logo!

Here’s a cool/rare pic that was taken by a fan behind the dugout during Babe’s tenure as the Brooklyn Dodgers 1B coach. As an experiment (if you look closely), I added some animated bits to make it look even more vintage
1946 Chicago Cubs Team
The ‘46 Cubs still managed to get to a respectable 82-71 record despite hitting only 56 home runs (although probably helped by the pitching staff’s 3.24 ERA).
1955 Omaha Cardinals Team
There’s a few well-known names on this squad, including Mgr. Johnny Keane who had quite an odd major league managing career (winning the World Series in ‘64 with the Cardinals…then becoming the NY Yankees manager in ‘65-66…then dropping dead in ‘67).
1953 Toledo Sox Team
Plenty of familiar names on this Milwaukee Braves AAA farm club including Gene Conley who went on to win a championship with the 1957 Milwaukee Braves as well as 3 championships in basketball with the Boston Celtics (1959-61).
1938 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Composite
Featuring George (Babe) Ruth - Coach. Seems odd to list his name that way, although ‘Kiki’ Cuyler is listed by his formal name Hazen and ‘Cookie’ Lavagetto as Harry.
