Here’s Casey Stengel in his 2nd year of managing a big league club, the Brooklyn Dodgers. The team would finish 5th, which would be the highest standing Casey achieved managing a MLB team until he skippered the 1949 Yankees…and we all know how that wound up.

Wyatt isn’t exactly a household name in the lexicon of baseball fans, but it should be remembered that he won 22 games for the 1941 N.L. Champion Brooklyn team and finished 3rd in MVP voting that year behind his Dodgers teammates Pete Reiser and winner Dolph Camilli.
