1941 Boston Red Sox TeamEverybody remembers the ‘41 Red Sox for Ted Williams’ epic run at .400, but let’s not forget that this team also had Jimmie Foxx, Joe Cronin, Bobby Doerr & Dom DiMaggio. If only the impending war wouldn’t tear this lineup apart, which might be on the mind of super-spy Moe Berg as this picture was snapped (he’s in the back row, 3rd from left next to Jimmie Foxx). This would also be Lefty Grove’s last season in the majors, one in which he held on long enough to finally capture his 300th (and final) win.

1934 Tour Of Japan - In The Dugout
Here’s a great pic that shows Connie Mack, The Babe and Jimmie Foxx hanging out in the dugout during the ‘34 Tour Of Japan. Seems like this is either before the game started or the US Team was batting. Also, that looks like Lou Gehrig with his hand on his face next to Foxx.

Here’s a picture that I colorized (from a B&W) of some American League greats at the 1937 All-Star Game (July 7) at Griffith Stadium - Washington D.C. From left to right: Lou Gehrig, Joe Cronin, Bill Dickey, Joe DiMaggio, Charlie Gehringer, Jimmie Foxx & Hank Greenberg. I originally posted it on my Flickr page over two years ago.
