I know a bit about it.
The game took place on October 31, 1924. Walter Johnson suited up for the game as well. Walter was in California looking to buy the Oakland Oaks of the PCL (Pacific Coast League). 1939 Hollywood Stars Team
Not a team of Hollywood actors as the name might imply, just one of the great old teams from the Pacific Coast League. They featured quite a few past/future major league players, see here: 1939 Stars Team Roster.
1949 San Diego Padres Team
Here’s the very talented ‘49 Padres squad led by Hall Of Fame Mgr. Bucky Harris. Bucky was only in San Diego for the ‘49 season as he was in-between major league jobs (‘48 Yankees/’50 Senators). Players on this team included Luke Easter, Minnie Miñoso, Vic Power, Al Rosen & Artie Wilson.
1956 San Diego Padres Team
Featuring a 22 year old Rocco “Rocky” Colavito in his last minor league stint before being called up to Cleveland that season. While there, he managed to hit 21 HR’s and finished 2nd to Luis Aparicio in AL Rookie Of The Year voting.
1950 San Diego Padres Team
There’s several familiar names on the ‘50 Padres squad, most notably Cuban all-time-great, Saturnino Orestes Armas (Arrieta) Miñoso, or simply just Minnie Miñoso (top row, 2nd left).
