Babe Ruth & Will Rogers Entertain The Kids
Children’s Hospital - Boston, MA - April 24, 1929
It was 84 Years Ago today that The Babe and Will Rogers came by to cheer up the kids at the Boston Children’s Hospital. Babe was in town that day to play the Red Sox at Fenway Park. He went 1-4 with an RBI in a Yankees victory, 9-3 (I guess he didn’t promise any home runs that day!).

1946 Negro League West All-Star Team
East-West All-Star Game - Comiskey Park - August 18, 1946For more about the game, go here: 1946 East-West Game - Second Game excerpt: “The second 1946 East-West Game was held at Comiskey Park on August 18, 1946. The West avenged their loss from three days earlier, beating the East, 4-1, behind a three-man pitching show. 45,474 fans turned out to watch the contest. It was the last East-West Game to feature Josh Gibson. While Gibson would be the all-time East-West leader in walks and hits (tied in the latter category), he put up an unimpressive showing offensively in his last East-West affair (0 for 3, BB, 3 steals allowed in 6 tries).”

Babe Ruth Makes His N.L. Debut - April 16, 1935Here’s a pic of The Babe crossing the plate after hitting his first N.L. home run off of Carl Hubbell at Braves Field, Boston. I added some color for the occasion (I’ll make a more complete version when I have time). Finally, my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the Boston area today…..
