Towel Time For Babe Ruth
Babe worked up quite a sweat during one of his many exhibition appearances to benefit the war effort during WWII. Fun fact: During Babe’s playing days with the Yankees (1920-34), the team didn’t wear the familiar “NY” logo on their home jerseys. Instead, they wore plain pinstripes. The “NY” came back to stay from 1936-onward. So, if you see a picture of The Babe wearing that logo, it’s after his retirement.

Bustin’ Babe Warms Up - c.1927-28Babe Ruth warming up on one of his many barnstorming tours after the regular baseball season ended. Lou Gehrig was also on this tour (as the Larrupin’ Lous), but it looks like maybe The Babe was going to be playing first base for the day (judging from his glove).

Babe Ruth Asleep In The Laundry Cart
Is Babe sleeping one off, a few too many perhaps? Judging from the uniform, it’s more likely that this was a promo photo for one of the many baseball short films he made.

Young Babe On The Road - ca. 1916-18
Here’s a new edit, a great close-up of The Babe wearing his Red Sox road uniform, ca. 1916-18. The original had a lot of those annoying old-school, hand-drawn edge lines (better for newspaper printing of the day). I removed quite a bit of them, although you can still see evidence of them in his cap and collar. Cheers! ~B

Miss Jr. Rose Bowl 1954 - Beverly Gould
That’s baseball great Ralph Kiner (sporting a Cubs uniform) that Beverly is sliding into while wearing a football helmet. Gotta love the old-school football/baseball mashup pictures!

Babe Shows Off His Football Skills
Babe Ruth dons a rather unfamiliar uniform and gives a high kick for the camera. Taken ca.1920’s.
