Babe Gets Behind The Bar Again
On the set of “The Babe Ruth Story” - 1948Seems like old times as Babe gets behind the bar in a recreation of his father’s Baltimore saloon during a break in filming “The Babe Ruth Story”. The “Vote For Teddy” sign is a reference to Teddy Roosevelt (U.S. President 1901-09) and indicates that the scenes filmed that day would be from The Babe’s childhood.

1944 Toledo Mud Hens TeamThere’s several past/future major league players here, but nobody of particular note besides future ‘69 Seattle Pilots manager Joe Schultz of “Ball Four” fame (back row, 3rd from right). “Now pound that Budweiser into you and go get ‘em tomorrow!”

Story Time With The Babe - WOR Radio NY Interview - 1940’s
All eyes and ears are on The Babe as he gives a live interview to WOR Radio New York. I don’t have a specific year for this pic, but it’s obviously post-retirement yet pre-illness…so early-mid 1940’s. Looks like a festive occasion judging from the beer glasses and coasters.
