1947 Babe Ruth Day - On The Bench & In Real Color
67 Years Ago Today - Yankee Stadium - April 27, 1947 “Bucky Harris, manager of the N.Y. Yankees, shown here with Babe Ruth in the Yankee dugout, says, “It’s good to have you back, Babe”. Today, throughout the country, wherever a ballpark was opened, they celebrated “Babe Ruth Day”. At Yankee Stadium where the celebration starred The Babe himself, such sport figures like Commissioner Happy Chandler, William Harridge, Ford Frick and scores of others turned out to greet the former home run slugger. Ruth recently recovered from a serious operation.”

1924 St. Louis Cardinals Team CompositeThe ‘24 Cards were led by Rogers Hornsby and his phenominal .424 BA as well as Branch Rickey, who was in his next-to-last year of managing a big league club. Rickey would kick up to the Cardinals front office in mid-1925, where he fully developed their minor league system, helping the team win their first 4 World Championships. After the 1942 season, he took over as President & GM of the Brooklyn Dodgers, solidifying his increasingly legendary career by signing Jackie Robinson in 1945.

On The Set of “The Babe Ruth Story” - 1948
Babe takes a moment to pose for this picture, cigar in hand as usual. Not sure who the other guy is though. Seems like it’s somebody who would be involved in the production (but not a ballplayer). Perhaps a camera man, producer, prop guy etc?
